Our Story

Fitz Outfitters was born when Joshua "Fitz" FitzPatrick had multiple climbing ropes leftover after a long climbing trip and didn't know what to do with them. At first glance, these climbing ropes appeared to be in good condition, but due to the many years of climbing that they put up with, their integrity could no longer be trusted with a human life. Instead of throwing these ropes away like many climbers have done in the past, Fitz decided to get his sewing machine out and see what he could make. After a few weeks of crafting and prototyping, Fitz came up with a design for a classic D ring belt made out of these ropes.

Throughout the past few years, Fitz Outfitters has grown to accept retired climbing ropes from individual climbers all around the country, along with many other retired climbing ropes from climbing gyms and guide services. Along with the original belts that Fitz made, Fitz Outfitters now offers dog accessories, bracelets, and chalk bags, all made out of these retired climbing ropes, which traditionally would have been thrown out.

Customers of Fitz Outfitters are not just customers, they are part of a community and part of a recycling ecosystem. Each product that we make comes with many memories and experiences behind it. We appreciate our customers for letting these ropes live on in a new way, and we hope that each customer knows how much their support means to us.

Sustainability

While the act of recycling climbing ropes is inherently sustainable, we also aim to make our business sustainable in other ways, including our packaging, production, and daily operations. We are always looking to make our business more sustainable, so feel free to reach out with any suggestions or criticisms you may have.

Contact Us

Feel free to email us anytime at "contactus@fitzoutfitters.com" with any questions, concerns, or comments you may have. If you prefer, you may also message us through our contact page.

Sizing

The sizing on our website is based off of belt length, not waist size. To find your ideal belt length, we recommend that you add at least 6 inches to your waist size. If you are in doubt, you can always order a longer belt and cut it to your size. Click here for instructions on how to properly cut your belt.

Shipping

All products have free shipping within the USA unless otherwise listed. Domestic orders will typically be delivered within 2-8 business days. International shipping is available to most countries but will take longer and require an additional fee.

A note on international shipping: once we have mailed your package, we cannot control any unexpected delays. Customs has been very inconsistent lately, so while most of our international customers receive their package within 2 weeks, some have had wait times closer to 2 months. If you are not located in the USA, please prepare for long wait times.

Availability

If a product does not show "out of stock" on the website, then it is most likely available, but in the event that the product you order is not available, you will be given the choice to receive a refund or choose another product of the same price. If you do not respond to the email within 7 days, you will automatically receive a refund.

Returns

Returns will only be issued if you receive a faulty product. If you wish to make a return, take a picture of the faulty product, and email it to us at "returns@fitzoutfitters.com" within 24 hours of receiving your order.
